Hobs Sputnik’s “Satellite Strange” Get’s Some Love From Ghetto Blaster Magazine

HOBS SPUTNIK
SATELLITE STRANGE
Canadian export Hobs Sputnik’s Satellite Strange brings so many adjectives to mind; grimy, ill, ugly, disturbing. The list can go on and on and all those words wouldn’t be able to encapsulate it. Satellite Strange is different in a number of ways, Hobs Sputnik has a vocal cadence that’s easily identifiable. His gruff vocals are distinctive and although he sometimes sounds as if he’s on the verge of losing his breath, he once again finds another 16 bars to deliver without missing a step. Songs like “No Stranger” are bizarrely addictive while “Baby Spider” and “Stay Busy” are strangely hypnotic. Satellite Strange sometimes seems as if it’s on the cusp of falling to pieces but is held together by a flexibility that never lets it. Hobs Sputnik has definitely touched on something here that could one day be great. (Paramanu) by Eddie Ugarte
